FG26/4 · Entity matching
Group names, trading names and contracted entities are not interchangeable
Material third-party data can be spread across systems that were designed for different jobs. One may store the brand, another the invoicing entity, and another the legal counterparty. Structural reconciliation has to preserve those distinctions.
Start from the contractual relationship
The register describes arrangements with service providers. When several related entities appear in the evidence, the mapping should identify which legal entity actually sits in the relevant arrangement and why.
Keep parent-group context separate
A parent company can be useful context without being the contracted provider. Treating group membership as an identity shortcut can create false matches across contracts, supplier records and downstream dependencies.
Surface ambiguity instead of forcing a match
Where the approved sources do not establish which entity is the relevant provider, the record should remain an exception until the owner resolves it.
